Also, "cygcheck -c cygwin" will tell you the version of the "cygwin" package that you have installed. FYI, according to you would have done well to attach (that is, *attach* as an attachment) the output of "cygcheck -svr" to your message. This output contains information about your system (such as the OS version, the environment variables, Cygwin settings, DLL versions, and installed package information) that would help in diagnosing your problem.
