On one occasion, the hang lasted for over 18 hours. Setup claims to be trying to run a script called /etc/postinstall/XFree86-bin-icons.sh, which is a symlink to /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86-bin-icons.sh. After cancelling setup, I can still run Cygwin and XFree86 (phew.)
