Although it will eventually be replaced by the developing "cygwin daemon", cygipc is currently the more complete implementation and is used by postgresql as well as by the kde-cygwin project. The unofficial 'cygipc' package has been updated to version 1.14. It now should operate correctly on WinXP with Fast User Switching, thanks to a patch from Jason Tischler and Igor Pechtchanski. This version is NOT dependent on any new (1.5.x) features of the cygwin kernel (e.g. it does not use 64bit anything). It is a drop-in replacement for cygipc-1.13-2.
