Roberts Matthew, What OS are you running? Which version of Cygwin did you have before? Where is the "cygcheck -svr" output? What are the symptoms/triggers of the slowdown -- is it just "perceived" slowness, or do you have the timings? FWIW, the "islower()" warnings usually indicate that you had a running Cygwin process while upgrading, and setup was unable to overwrite cygwin1.dll. Did you reboot after setup? Did setup ask you to? The output of "cygcheck -svr" should show the version mismatch. Please provide it as an uncompressed text *attachment* as per (and please make sure your mailer doesn't put text attachments in-line). You might wish to reboot first, just to clear that up.
