Glad you did your homework first. Your email hinted that this was the case but it wasn't entirely clear and I usually find I end up regretting it when I make assumptions. ;-) What you discovered answers your quesiton w.r.t. the Cygwin distribution. There is no binary getconf that comes with Cygwin. You either need to build it from source (and consider contributing it ;-) ) or scrounge around on the net looking for someone who has one and has posted it. If you search the packages for getconf, you will see that there are references to "getconf" in the sources of bash and sh-utils, However, after these are installed using the package manager, getconf is not present! I am using the latest versions of both and getconf is not to be found anywhere on the filesystem. it may well be that getconf is available in source form but as you will see from my posting, I am looking for a binary version of getconf. Any help you can give would be appreciated. regards, Kieran Dolan -----Original Message----- From: lhall AT pop DOT ma DOT ultranet DOT com [mailto:lhall AT pop DOT ma DOT ultranet DOT com] Sent: 07 April 2003 19:43 To: Kieran DOT Dolan AT logicacmg DOT com Subject: RE: cygwin getconf implementation See . Different question, same process to find the answer. Larry Original Message: ----------------- From: Dolan, Kieran Kieran DOT Dolan AT logicacmg DOT com Date: Mon, 7 Apr 2003 17:59:46 +0100 To: cygwin AT cygwin DOT com Subject: cygwin getconf implementation Is there a standard getconf implementation for cygwin ? I have found references to a "loadable" getconf in release notes for bash and to builtin versions for ksh93. However, I cannot find a standalone binary getconf anywhere. Does one exist & if so in which package? _______________________________________ Kieran Dolan Technical Architect LogicaCMG Wireless Networks Brook Drive Reading Berkshire RG2 6UA United Kingdom Phone: +44 118 9659265 Mobile: +44 7801 371726 Fax: +44 118 9650317 E-mail: kieran DOT dolan AT logicacmg DOT com ________________________________________ Internet: www.logicacmg.com This e-mail and any attachment is for authorised use by the intended recipient(s) only.
