You are not providing information about your operating system, terminal, nor what you did to "turn to visible" nor how you tested that "there is no visible bell", so my answer may be totally irrelevant to your problem: The relevant settings in $INPUTRC are: set bell-style visible set prefer-visible-bell on these have no effect in the windows console nor rxvt.
