The synopsis with "for the X window system" led me astray and prevented me from looking at it. Some mention of this would be very good to put in the documentation here: http://cygwin.com/cygwin-ug-net/setup-files.html Just a mention that rxvt is a good alternative for the default windows terminal emulator and that it doesn't require X on Windows but works with it if present.
