After I last emailed that I had gotten things to work by manually creating system mount points for /, /usr/bin, and /usr/lib, and I was subsequently told that mount was the proper way to do that, I looked into it. So, I opened bash and recreated those mounts as system mounts by issuing these commands: mount -f -s -b "C:/cygwin/bin" "/usr/bin" mount -f -s -b "C:/cygwin/lib" "/usr/lib" mount -f -s -b "C:/cygwin" "/" Since I have system defined mounts, I don't need the user defined ones for those points, right? So, I issued: umount -U My mount table now looks like it should: $ mount C:\cygwin\bin on /usr/bin type system (binmode) C:\cygwin\lib on /usr/lib type system (binmode) C:\cygwin on / type system (binmode) c: on /c type system (binmode, noumount) h: on /h type system (binmode, noumount) Sshd runs as it should, as a service. Here is where the problem comes into play. If I reboot, sshd does not start up automatically. I open bash now and look at this: $ mount C:\cygwin\bin on /usr/bin type user (binmode) C:\cygwin\lib on /usr/lib type user (binmode) C:\cygwin on / type user (binmode) c: on /c type system (binmode, noumount) h: on /h type system (binmode, noumount) The system mounts are gone, and I am back to user mounts, which don't work for sshd. How can I get these system mounts to be permanent? --- David Monk CCNA, MCSE david AT purplebear DOT net cygcheck output: (you'll notice the mounts shown are back to system. I changed them again to get sshd to run) $ cygcheck -sr Cygwin Win95/NT Configuration Diagnostics Current System Time: Tue Oct 15 08:13:53 2002 Windows 2000 Professional Ver 5.0 Build 2195 Service
