Why would changing the cygdrive prefix to '/' have any affect on this issue? I don't know of any reason to recommend this beyond, perhaps, personal preference. If there's a reason to do this for sshd, this needs to be investigated and fixed. Ditto for any other package that doing this might affect (positively or negatively).
