BTW, Ctrl-Left does not map to \eOc for me in the command window. However, this seems related: F1 through F4 pressed at the bash prompt used to kill xterms for me until I configured .inputrc to ignore them. The function key mappings are: F1='\eOP' through F4='\eOS'. Seems like Esc O kills bash... Weird.
