I am having trouble getting gprof to work.

I keep getting:
gmon.out: No such file or directory

If I make a dummy gmon.out I get:
gmon.out: file too short to be a gmon file

I have compiled and linked with -pg

I have looked at the FAQ for DJPP which had a section on this issue, and 
that didn't seem to resolve it.

Anyone have any ideas where to go next?
