Usually one opens a separate connection for each resource to be retrieved via HTTP. Only somewhat recently (using the HTTP 1.1 protocol revision) has it been possible to even try to get multiple resources via a single HTTP connection. I agree with the work-around, and now that I've noticed the problem, I do the same.
