I think you misinterpreted this example. It wasn't given to indicate that SIDs should be removed from the passwd file. It was written before mkpasswd was changed to add these to the file. I will admit that this example is not presented in a clear context, given the changes that are presented in the next section ("New since Cygwin release 1.1"). You should assume the examples and information in this subsequent section supercedes the example you point to. The first example you point to is really only appropriate now for those on 9x/Me platforms, where there are no SIDs. Thanks for pointing this example out. FWIW, I would not recommend this course of action for anyone looking for proper permissions handling on NT/W2K/XP with NTFS. If some documentation suggests this, either my recommendation or the documentation needs to adjusted. > > > > > > > >-- >Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple >Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html >Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html >FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/ -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
