Example ------------- bash$ bash$ read proj /temp bash$ cd $proj : No such file or directory bash$ cd /temp bash$ pwd /temp bash$ test -d $proj bash$ echo $? 1 bash$ test -d /temp bash$ echo $? 0 bash$ --------------------------------------- When testing or trying to change directories using $proj it fails. When using the literal values it passes. It appears that the read function does not work properly. May be I'm doing something stupid or missing something completely. I have looked through the FAQs and mail list archives but cannot find anything similar.
