As far as permissions, here is a look through /cygdrive's eyes: $ ll /cygdrive/c/cygwin/usr/lib total 457 -rw-r--r-- 1 dpbrowni None 408560 Apr 25 2001 libglui.a -rw-r--r-- 1 dpbrowni None 26402 Apr 25 2001 libgluix.a drwxr-xr-x 2 dpbrowni None 0 Mar 20 16:58 mingw drwxr-xr-x 2 dpbrowni None 32768 Mar 20 17:01 w32api And the windows permissions matched other cygwin directories I've seen (Everyone = Full Control, owned by my group: DANB3\Administrators).
