Notice the "FREE" statemetn in listing, which I assume means that service is not registered in inetd. //root AT W2KPICASSO /usr/bin $ inetd -d ... ADD : talk proto=udp, wait=1, user=root builtin=0 server=/usr/sbin/in.talkd registered /usr/sbin/in.talkd on 19 ADD : ntalk proto=udp, wait=1, user=root builtin=0 server=/usr/sbin/in.talkd registered /usr/sbin/in.talkd on 20 ADD : rsync proto=tcp, wait=0, user=root builtin=0 server=/usr/local/bin/rsync FREE: rsync proto=tcp, wait=0, user=root builtin=0 server=/usr/local/bin/rsync I have /etc/inetd.conf # see rsyncd.conf(5)s rsync stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/bin/rsync rsyncd --daemon Which should be okay: //root AT W2KPICASSO /usr/bin $ ls -l /usr/local/bin/rsync -rwxr-xr-x 1 root None 199175 Jan 19 2001 /usr/local/bin/rsync The Linux Redhat says: [root AT conde ~/.ssh/config ]# rsync -v -v -v 10.0.0.2:: failed to connect to 10.0.0.2 - Connection refused And nothing happens in the "inetd -d" listing. If I manually start: //root AT W2KPICASSO /usr/bin $ rsync --daemon Everything rocks, so the problem is inetd. Any help is welcome.
