I'd seen the above page but hadn't taken in the details below the section with the mount examples. It's much clearer now. Thanks. Maybe what I was really asking was for 'ls /dev' to give me a list of all device available on the system similar to Chris's 'ls /cygdrive' listing all the drive letters. Does that make more sense or am I still in cloud cuckoo land?
