The problem was that I had MinGW also installed and it was too early in the PATH. Took it out and the compile ran OK. However, the install of the utilities failed: Installing DB utilities: /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.3.3/bin ... cp -fp db_archive /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.3.3/bin/db_archive cp: preserving times for `/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.3.3/bin/db_archive': No such fil e or directory make: *** [install_utilities] Error 1 Did you get this also?
