During an exhaustive search thru the mail archives I learnt the following: 1) It is not a good idea to run the daemon as SYSTEM, I changed that to a local user with the additional user rights outlined in the inetutils readme ("Act as part of the OS, ...") 2) I tried CYGWIN set to "nosmbntsec" Executing ls /cygdrive/I: works, rsh localhost -l username "ls /cygdrive/I:" does not do anything with I: being a network drive (samba NTFS). I would really appreciate a hint here. Furthermore, after changing the CYGWIN variable, is it sufficient to restart the inetd to make those changes active?
