If you sftp to a Cygwin openssh server and change directory to the root of the filesystem, trying "cd var" or "cd etc" doesn't work. Instead, you have to enter "cd /var" or "cd /etc". I can't remember the exact error message right now but I know I have tested it with all the latest updates.
