If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing from you. When in tcsh, most commands, (like "ls") fail. I get a pop-up window that says: **************** ls.exe -Application Error The instruction at "0x77f6ce0c" referenced memory at "0x00000010". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the application. Click on CANCEL to debug the application. **************** When I click on OK, I get: C:\Cygwin\bin\ls.exe: *** conflicting versions of cygwin1.dll detected. Use only the most recent version. I think the message is misleading -- I've looked for extra versions on cygwin1.dll, and there are none. I do NOT have the problem at the DOS shell, nor with sh or ksh. And, the problem sometimes disappears. I have not been able to correlate any other events that would make the problem come or go. I've include the output of "cygwin -s -r -v" below. TIA, Bill **************************************************************** cygwin -s -r -v Cygnus Win95/NT Configuration Diagnostics Current System Time: Mon Jan 19 05:21:26 1998 WinNT Ver 4.0 build 1381 Service Pack 5 Path: /c/Perl/bin/ /c/WINNT/system32 /c/WINNT /cygdrive/t/ADE/bin /c/atria/bin /c/DDK/bin /bin /contrib/bin /c/Vstudio/Common/Tools/WinNT /c/Vstudio/Common/MSDev98/Bin /c/Vstudio/Common/Tools /c/Vstudio/VC98/bin /c/MSSDK/Bin/WinNT/NT4 /c/MSSDK/Bin/ /c/MSSDK/Bin/WinNT /c/bcurran/bin SysDir: C:\WINNT\System32 WinDir: C:\WINNT HOME = `/c/bcurran/' !C: = `C:\' !EXITCODE = `00000000' BASEDIR = `C:\DDK' BASEMAKE = `C:\MSSDK\Include\BKOffice.Mak' BKOFFICE = `C:\MSSDK\' COMPUTERNAME = `ESD-PERMIT' COMSPEC = `C:\WINNT\system32\cmd.exe' DDKDRIVE = `C:' DXSDKROOT = `C:\MSSDK\' HOMEDRIVE = `C:' HOMEPATH = `\' INCLUDE = `C:\MSSDK\Include\;C:\Vstudio\VC98\atl\include;C:\Vstudio\VC98\mfc\include;C:\Vstudio\VC98\include' INETSDK = `C:\MSSDK\' LIB = `C:\MSSDK\Lib\;C:\Vstudio\VC98\mfc\lib;C:\Vstudio\VC98\lib' LOGONSERVER = `\\K10BDC' MSDEVDIR = `C:\Vstudio\Common\MSDev98' MSSDK = `C:\MSSKD\' MSTOOLS = `C:\MSSKD\' NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS = `1' OS = `Windows_NT' OS2LIBPATH = `C:\WINNT\system32\os2\dll;' PATHEXT = `.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD' PERL5LIB = `T:\ADE\perlInc' PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE = `x86' PROCESSOR_IDENTIFIER = `x86 Family 6 Model 5 Stepping 2, GenuineIntel' PROCESSOR_LEVEL = `6' PROCESSOR_REVISION = `0502' PROMPT = `$P$G' SYSTEMDRIVE = `C:' SYSTEMROOT = `C:\WINNT' TEMP = `C:\TEMP' TMP = `C:\TEMP' TMPDIR = `C:\Cygwin\/tmp' USERDOMAIN = `ESTORE' USERNAME = `bcurran' USERPROFILE = `C:\WINNT\Profiles\bcurran' WINDIR = `C:\WINNT' TERM = `cygwin' TZ = `EST5EDT4,M4.1.0/2,M10.5.0/2' HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cygnus Solutions HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\mounts v2 (default) = `/cygdrive' cygdrive flags = 0x00000020 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\mounts v2\/c (default) = `c:' flags = 0x00000000 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\Program Options HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\1.00.000 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\mounts v2 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\Cygwin\mounts v2\/ (default) = 0x0000000a native = `C:\Cygwin' HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions\CYGWIN.DLL setup a: fd N/A N/A c: hd NTFS 5404Mb 46% CP CS UN PA FC d: cd N/A N/A e: hd NTFS 2651Mb 1% CP CS UN PA FC g: net NTFS 5155Mb 33% PA bcurran m: net MVFS 1000Mb 50% CP CS CCase o: net NTFS 278635Mb 11% CP CS UN PA FC Department2 t: net NTFS 15999Mb 9% CP CS UN PA FC Strongbox C:\Cygwin / system binmode c: /c user textmode Found: C:\Cygwin\bin\bash.exe Found: C:\Cygwin\bin\cat.exe Not Found: cpp (good!)
