I assume by your statements that you intend to recommend a specific Cygwin version in your "howto". I don't know for sure obviously but that would be the only reason I can think of to do this. If I'm wrong, please correct me. I'm wondering, have you tried this with a snapshot too? If there is really a problem with the latest and greatest, it would be allot more helpful to everyone if you could help debug the problem. Otherwise, the issue will likely remain in upcoming releases, which is not the preferable modus-operandi.
