First off, I'm running an Athlon 900mhz with Windows2000 Professional. I don't run them at the same time (there's only ONE cygwin1.dll on my harddrive). When I switch between them, I use setup.exe to uninstall and reinstall the version I need. cygwin-1.1.8-2: Everytime I compile a program (with a little more complexity than 'Hello, world') I get an error of: 'Entry Point Not Found' (title) - The procedure entry point_check_for_executable could not be located in the dynamic link library cygwin1.dll.' (message). This happens under Administrator, Power User, and as a regular user. cygwin-1.3.1-1: Using this version, when someone other than the Administrator (Power Users, Backup Operators, regular users, etc) compiles ANY program (even little 'Hello, world' ones) gcc just hangs and my processor usage shoots to 100% (using Task Manager to view the usage). This also happens when a user other than Administrator runs most other programs (vi, ftp, tar, gzip, and python are a few I've noticed, however most other programs give me the same problem). With both versions, I tried a completly FRESH install, erasing the entire \cygwin\ directory and starting from scratch. The same problems on both versions occur. I also have a WindowsME box that does NOT experience these problems, both with 1.1.8-2 OR 1.3.1-1. Both versions, as well as any programs (compiled by me or not) work just fine. Could this be a problem with only Windows2000 (or NT)? My CYGWIN environment is set to 'ntsec tty ntea'. You can find a copy of `ls -laFR` here: http://www.dalecampbell.net/files/ls-laFR.txt.gz. I'm not sure if it could be a permission problem, or what. If anyone needs some information that I haven't provided, please drop me an e-mail. Thanks.
