David, I set /etc/passwd to mkpasswd -d | grep bbarber >/etc/passwd It worked KANE:/usr/bin> id uid=1985(bbarber) gid=3135(Administrators) Previously I tried adding 'bbarber' to NT's Local users list. That did not change mkpasswd -l probably because I didn't assign 'bbarber' to the 'Administrators' group. Thanks for your help. --Brad At 07:54 AM Thursday 3/29/2001, David Postill wrote: >| -----Original Message----- >| From: Brad Barber [mailto:bradb AT atg DOT com] >| Sent: Friday, March 23, 2001 3:51 PM >| To: Andy Helten; cygwin AT cygwin DOT com >| Subject: Re: whoami and id returns "administrator" instead of >| my userid >| >| >| It looks like my problem is due to an ambiguous configuration of my >| NT workstation. >| >| If I look at >| Computer Management :: System Tools :: Local Users >| and Groups :: Users >| I find >| Administrator >| atg >| Guest >| >| cygwin/mkpasswd is using these values >| >| KANE:/etc> mkpasswd -l >| Everyone:*:0:0:,S-1-1-0:: >| SYSTEM:*:18:18:,S-1-5-18:: >| Administrators:*:544:544:,S-1-5-32-544:: >| Administrator::500:513:,S-1-5-21-1606980848-1563985344-1708537 >| 768-500:/home/Administrator:/bin/sh >| atg::1000:513:atg,S-1-5-21-1606980848-1563985344-1708537768-10 >| 00:/home/atg:/bin/sh >| Guest::501:513:,S-1-5-21-1606980848-1563985344-1708537768-501: >| /home/Guest:/bin/sh >| >| It lookslike the NT is storing my network userid elsewhere. > > > >| >mkpasswd -l > /etc/passwd > >Use mkpasswd -d > /etc/passwd instead. > >------------------------------------------------------------------------ >Privileged or confidential information may be contained in this message or >its attachments. > >If you are the addressee of this message and you would prefer not to >receive e-mails from workthing at this address please notify the sender by >return. > >If you are not the addressee indicated in this message (or responsible for >delivery of the message to the addressee), you may not copy this message >or deliver it to anyone other than the addressee.
