I do not remember the specific error message right now & I'm away from my devel machine; I'll respond with more data later tonight or tomorrow. Yes. I ran 'sshd -debug' under the same user context in which the Service Manager starts sshd (Administrator, but with the necessary additional rights -- recall, ssh-ing, scp-ing, etc to this machine DO work, just not sftp).
