Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed Hello. I recently did a completely clean install of Cygwin on my W2k workstation. My goal was to get the "maximal" binary+source distribution. This went fine, except that the source packages were installed directly into my cygwin "root" directory: $ cd / $ ls autoconf-2.13 gettext-0.10.35 readline-4.1 automake-1.4 grep-2.4.2-1 regex-4.4 bash-2.04 groff-1.11 sbin bin home setup.log binutils-20001221-1 inetutils-1.3.2 setup.log.full bison-1.28-1 jbigkit-1.2 squid-2.4.PRE-STABLE bzip2-1.0.1 jpeg-6b src clear-1.0 less-358-2 tar-1.13.18-3 cpio-2.4.2 lib tcltk-20001125-1 cvs-1.11.0 libpng-1.0.9 tcsh-6.10.00 ..... etc. etc. Did I do something wrong? I expected the source packages to be installed under /src or /usr/src -- I don't remember setup.exe asking me to explicitly choose a location for these packages. If this is in fact the default behavior, it should be changed IMHO...tell me if I'm mistaken. What are the implications if I manually move these directories into /src or /usr/src -- will my intstallation get out of sync with some "magic" log files or registry entries (a common occurrence on Windows) ? Thanks, Chad Loder P.S. -- I describe my install process: First I tried the "Install from Internet" option, but of course this was quite slow (I think it established a new FTP session for each package?). So I then chose the "Download from Internet" option, selected EVERY package that I could possibly select, and downloaded it into a "local package directory" of C:\temp\cyg. Then I re-ran setup.exe and chose "Install from Local Directory", specifying that download directory. I chose "C:\cygwin" as my root directory, and selected every available package. The install completed without errors, except that all of these package source directories were dumped into the root. -- Want to unsubscribe from this list?
