As far as I was able to figure out, they would need to be implemented from scratch based on shared memory areas. At one time, I started to work on an implementation of this. I couldn't get any advice regarding cygwin internals (you know what happens if you email Chris directly) and I couldn't post to the mailing list because of the damn ORBS filter, so I eventually bagged it. Have since chucked NT as well and work on Linux full time. Much happier. Emulate Windows when necessary, instead of the other way around.
