Bash (run in a dos window) will not allow me to type the letter 's' this morning! When I type the unmodified letter 's' it just beeps. Shift, CapsLock, Control all work normally. I usually run bash from within emacs (and that does not display the problem) so I don't know precisely when this problem may have started. Here is what I've tried so far: 1. Searched the archives back through 1998 for "bash" "beep" revealed nothing. Nor "bash" "entry" "error". 2. stty sane did not change the behavior 3. bind -P did not show any binding for 's' 4. Updated my cygwin installation the morning of the 8th. Here is some diagnostic output: 7 OOPS:Mecklen$ ./foo + stty --all speed 38400 baud; rows 45; columns 80; line = 0; intr = ^C; quit = ^\; erase = ^H; kill = ^U; eof = ^D; eol = ; eol2 = ; start = ^Q; stop = ^S; susp = ^Z; rprnt = ^R; werase = ^W; lnext = ^V; flush = ^O; min = 1; time = 0; -parenb -parodd cs8 -hupcl -cstopb cread -clocal -crtscts -ignbrk brkint -ignpar -parmrk -inpck -istrip -inlcr -igncr icrnl ixon -ixoff -iuclc -ixany imaxbel opost -olcuc -ocrnl onlcr -onocr -onlret -ofill -ofdel nl0 cr0 tab0 bs0 vt0 ff0 isig icanon iexten echo echoe echok -echonl -noflsh -tostop echoctl echoke + bash --version GNU bash, version 2.04.7(2)-release (i686-pc-cygwin) Copyright 1999 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
