Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 20:12:28 -0000 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.3018.1300 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.3018.1300 Hello, I have recently upgraded my cygwin setup to 1.1.6, and the new OpenSSH package (as well as the usual amount of "neutral" packages: tar and so on). Now, id.exe crashes every time I try to log in to my box via SSH. I've narrowed it down to the following packages (the only ones that appear to be involved): - inetutils (the usual suspect, since I run sshd from inetd and it is rather flaky...) - OpenSSH-2.3.0p1-1 - cygwin 1.1.6-1 I've recreated my passwd and ssh*_config files, upgraded to 1.1.7 as soon as it appeared, but can't see anything wrong. Upgrading another of my boxes created _exactly_ the same problem, except that a lot more ported stuff I had compiled there now crashes every now and then. A couple of programs that used jpeg-6b now produce garbled images, for instance... Anyway, back to the ssh problem (which is critical for me). Here's a sample of the error output: P733[~]% ssh -l rcarmo localhost rcarmo AT localhost's password: 0 [main] ^a 0 handle_exceptions: Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION at eip=61001B87 eax=0000006A ebx=454D414E ecx=00000000 edx=454D4156 esi=00000000 edi=0240FF74 ebp=0240FA30 esp=0240FECC program=^a cs=001B ds=0023 es=0023 fs=0038 gs=0000 ss=0023 Stack trace: Frame Function Args 0240FA30 61001B87 (00000000, 00000000, 00000000, 00000000) 0240FEF4 61001B87 (000001C4, 61000001, 0240FF44, 610032C9) 0240FF44 610033D8 (004072CC, 6107C13C, 00000000, 00000000) 0240FF74 61003A8D (6169636F, 73734120, 00000000, 00000000) 0240FF94 61003ACC (00407230, 004011D0, 0240FFC0, 00401038) 0240FFA4 00405206 (004011D0, 80430F7B, 77E992A3, FFFFFFFE) 0240FFC0 00401038 (73734120, 6169636F, 7FFDF000, 00000054) 0240FFF0 77E992A6 (00401000, 00000000, 000000C8, 00000100) End of stack trace One thing is bugging me: I _do_ run cygwin under its own drive letter (D: is my /), since it saves me the mental effort of prepending and removing /whatever when dealing with my normal files. Hence, cygcheck -svr yields this: Cygnus Win95/NT Configuration Diagnostics Current System Time: Fri Dec 29 20:09:21 2000 WinNT Ver 5.0 build 2195 Path: /usr/local/bin /usr/bin /bin
