So therefore, although "Cygwin is not DOSISH", the test for $COMSPEC passes, ( echo $COMSPEC -> C:\WINNT\system32\cmd.exe ) and causes mktexlsr to use ';' instead of ':' If that is what you were saying, then ignore my comments.
