And you *would* have read *those* before getting "quite far along"?!? The problem with a HOWTO is that there are so many combinations and possibilities, depending on what you want to do. I don't know that one single person would be in a position to put everything together for you. I agree, it would be nice, but I don't know who's going to do it.
