Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2000 12:34:21 -0400 MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Internet Mail Service (5.5.2650.21) Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" X-OriginalArrivalTime: 18 Oct 2000 16:24:58.0871 (UTC) FILETIME=[F54E9070:01C0391F] I've seen this with an older version of cygwin (at least a year old). The older version reports a directory (not a file) as having a date of 4/22/2009 instead of the correct date. I've only seen this for LAN directories, not local directories. The newest version of cygwin doesn't have this behavior. -- John Wiersba > -----Original Message----- > From: Don Sharp [mailto:Don DOT Sharp AT dddandr DOT octacon DOT co DOT uk] > Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2000 11:42 AM > To: gnuwin32 > Subject: Why does ls report some directory dates as future? > > > I got no reaction to my previous submission so I am again seeking > comments, reasons, references, which will explain why > when I did an "ls -l" in / I got dates in the future which the NT dir > command says are current. > > total 71 > drwxr-xr-x 19 don None 0 Apr 22 2009 dosc <<< > drwxr-xr-x 6 don None 0 Apr 22 2009 dosn <<< > drwxr-xr-x 6 don None 0 Apr 22 2009 dosi <<< > drwxr-xr-x 6 don None 0 Apr 22 2009 dosh <<< > drwxr-xr-x 28 don None 0 Apr 22 2009 dosf <<< > drwxr-xr-x 6 don None 0 Apr 22 2009 dosd <<< > -rw-r--r-- 1 don None 3550 Oct 17 18:22 setup.log > -rw-r--r-- 1 don None 34578 Oct 17 18:22 setup.log.full > -rwxr-xr-x 1 don None 48 Oct 17 18:22 cygwin.bat > -rw-r--r-- 1 don None 766 Oct 17 18:22 cygwin.ico > drwxr-xr-x 3 don None 0 Oct 5 15:26 home > -rw-r--r-- 1 don None 4588 Sep 29 16:02 > READMEopengl-1.1.0-2.txt > -rw-r--r-- 1 don None 0 Sep 29 14:24 d_context > drwxr-xr-x 11 don None 4096 Sep 26 20:35 dosj > drwxr-xr-x 4 don None 0 Sep 26 20:22 var > drwxr-xr-x 2 don None 0 Sep 26 20:22 bin > drwxr-xr-x 2 don None 0 Sep 26 20:22 tmp > drwxr-xr-x 5 don None 0 Sep 26 20:22 lib > drwxr-xr-x 4 don None 0 Sep 26 17:32 etc > drwxr-xr-x 4 don None 0 Sep 26 17:26 cygwin > drwxr-xr-x 2 don None 0 Sep 26 17:06 RECYCLED > drwxr-xr-x 14 don None 0 Sep 17 05:23 usr > -rw-r--r-- 1 don None 91395 Nov 27 1999 po-mode.el > > whereas from a cmd window using "dir" I got > > Volume in drive G is CYGWINPOSIX > Volume Serial Number is B8C9-9DAD > > Directory of G:\ > > 26/09/00 17:26 cygwin > 26/09/00 17:32 etc > 26/09/00 20:22 bin > 26/09/00 20:22 lib > 26/09/00 20:22 tmp > 17/09/00 05:23 usr > 26/09/00 20:22 var > 17/10/00 18:22 766 cygwin.ico > 17/10/00 18:22 34,578 setup.log.full > 17/10/00 18:22 3,550 setup.log > 29/09/00 14:24 0 d_context > 27/11/99 21:51 91,395 po-mode.el > 05/10/00 15:21 65,693 .vimrc > 05/10/00 15:26 home > 05/10/00 15:29 dosc > 05/10/00 15:29 dosd > 05/10/00 15:29 dosf > 05/10/00 15:29 dosh > 05/10/00 15:29 dosi > 05/10/00 15:29 dosj > 05/10/00 15:29 dosn > 13/10/00 21:39 1,036 .bash_history > 29/09/00 16:02 4,588 READMEopengl-1.1.0-2.txt > 17/10/00 18:22 48 cygwin.bat > 24 File(s) 201,654 bytes > 7,622,656 bytes free > > Note no dates in the future.
