I installed the new login (1.4-1) and the new cygwin (1.1.3-1) and the behaviour of login has improved: it no longer crashes. But I still couldn't log in. Apparently cygwin_login_user() fails. I hacked login.c to always use crypt(), even on NT, and put my encrypted password in /etc/passwd. Now I can log in, and I can telnet to the NT machine - just once - if I run "/usr/sbin/in.telnetd -debug". When I last looked, I couldn't find any instructions for running inetd. Are there any? Or is there an option to telnetd to make it run as an independent daemon? Or does openssh work under cygwin? Edmund -- Want to unsubscribe from this list?
