Now I pipe the output to less and the colours disappear. Instead the corresponding escape sequence is written to the screen as pointed out in the following example: Output of 'ls --color -F': Temp/ Output of 'ls --color -F | less': ESC[01;36mTempESC[0m/ Is this the expected behaviour?
