I've run the openssl install several times, and it always does the same thing: reports success, but doesn't put the include files anywhere. So I tried manually copying the the include/openssl directory into one of the places you listed (and checked the openssh/configure to make sure the list was right). I tried it in /usr/include and /usr/local/include, and both times openssh/configure claimed it couldn't find it. So I now have three mysteries: (1) Why didn't openssl/Configure put the files where it was supposed to? (2) Why didn't openssh/configure find the files even after I put them there myself? (3) How come I'm getting all these problems when everyone else has it build just fine out of the box? My Cygwin installation is straight bog standard net release 1.1.1, not customised or modified in any way apart from manually adding mount points for drive partitions (/c == C:\ etc) and installing the perl 5 package required for openssl. Operating system is NT 4 sp 6a. Does anybody have any ideas at all? This is driving me crazy. I'll append the output of cygcheck -s -v to this in case it's any help. -- Ross Smith The Internet Group, Auckland, New Zealand ======================================================================== "So that's 2 T-1s and a newsfeed ... would you like clues with that?" -- Peter Da Silva Cygnus Win95/NT Configuration Diagnostics Current System Time: Fri May 26 17:20:22 2000 WinNT Ver 4.0 build 1381 Service Pack 6 Path: /c/WINNT/system32 /c/WINNT /c/Program Files/MTS /g/back_office/sql_server/BINN /c/bin /usr/bin /usr/local/bin /g/software/image_magick /g/software/microsoft_visual_studio/Common/Tools/WinNT /g/software/microsoft_visual_studio/Common/MSDev98/Bin /g/software/microsoft_visual_studio/Common/Tools /g/software/microsoft_visual_studio/VC98/bin SysDir: C:\WINNT\System32 WinDir: C:\WINNT CYGWIN = `binmode strip_title title tty' C_INCLUDE_PATH = `c:\cplusplus\class_library;c:\cplusplus\include' HOME = `/c/WINNT/Profiles/ross.s/home' LD_LIBRARY_PATH = `/c/cplusplus/class_library;c:/cplusplus/include;c:/cplusplus/libraries' LIBRARY_PATH = `c:\cplusplus\class_library;c:\cplusplus\include;c:\cplusplus\libraries' MAKE_MODE = `UNIX' PWD = `/c/t' !C: = `C:\t' CGI_DIRECTORY = `/g/server_root/http/cgi-bin' COMPUTERNAME = `ANIMAL' COMSPEC = `C:\WINNT\system32\cmd.exe' CPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH = `c:\cplusplus\class_library;c:\cplusplus\include' DELEGATE_PATH = `g:\software\image_magick' HOMEDRIVE = `C:' HOMEPATH = `\' HOSTNAME = `ANIMAL' HOSTTYPE = `i686' INCLUDE = `c:\cplusplus\class_library;c:\cplusplus\include;G:\software\microsoft_visual_studio\VC98\atl\include;G:\software\microsoft_visual_s tudio\VC98\mfc\include;G:\software\microsoft_visual_studio\VC98\include' LIB = `c:\cplusplus\class_library;c:\cplusplus\include;c:\cplusplus\libraries;G:\software\microsoft_visual_studio\VC98\mfc\lib;G:\software \microsoft_visual_studio\VC98\lib' LOGONSERVER = `\\ANIMAL' MACHTYPE = `i686-pc-cygwin' MSDEVDIR = `G:\software\microsoft_visual_studio\Common\MSDev98' MSVCDIR = `G:\software\microsoft_visual_studio\VC98' NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS = `1' OS2LIBPATH = `C:\WINNT\system32\os2\dll;' OS = `Windows_NT' OSTYPE = `cygwin' OS_TYPE = `windows' PATHEXT = `.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;.WSH' PRELOAD_WINSOCK = `1' PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE = `x86' PROCESSOR_IDENTIFIER = `x86 Family 6 Model 7 Stepping 3, GenuineIntel' PROCESSOR_LEVEL = `6' PROCESSOR_REVISION = `0703' PROMPT = `$P$G' PS1 = `\w$ ' RS_LIBRARY = `/g/projects/library' SERVER_ROOT = `/g/server_root' SHELL = `/bin/sh' SHLVL = `1' SYSTEMDRIVE = `C:' SYSTEMROOT = `C:\WINNT' TEMP = `C:\TEMP' TERM = `cygwin' TMP = `C:\TEMP' USERDOMAIN = `ANIMAL' USERNAME = `ross.s' USERPROFILE = `C:\WINNT\Profiles\ross.s' WINDIR = `C:\WINNT' _ = `/usr/bin/cygcheck' TZ = `NZST-12NZDT-13,M10.1.0/2,M3.3.0/2' Use `-r' to scan registry a: fd N/A N/A c: hd NTFS 2000Mb 74% CP CS UN PA FC NTFS1 d: hd NTFS 996Mb 53% CP CS UN PA FC NTFS2 e: hd NTFS 517Mb 1% CP CS UN PA FC NTFS3 f: hd FAT 603Mb 2% CP UN FAT1 g: hd NTFS 13021Mb 53% CP CS UN PA FC NTFS4 h: cd CDFS 262Mb 100% CS UN HALF_LIFE C:\cygwin\bin /usr/bin user binmode C:\cygwin\lib /usr/lib user binmode C:\cygwin / user binmode A: /a user binmode C: /c user binmode D: /d user binmode E: /e user binmode F: /f user binmode G: /g user binmode H: /h user binmode Found: C:\cygwin\bin\bash.exe Found: C:\cygwin\bin\cat.exe Found: C:\cygwin\bin\cpp.exe Found: C:\cygwin\bin\find.exe Found: C:\cygwin\bin\gcc.exe Found: C:\cygwin\bin\gdb.exe Found: C:\cygwin\bin\ld.exe Found: C:\cygwin\bin\ls.exe Found: C:\cygwin\bin\make.exe Found: C:\cygwin\bin\sh.exe 115k 1999/09/14 C:\cygwin\bin\cygitcl30.dll - os=4.0 img=1.0 sys=4.0 "cygitcl30.dll" v0.0 ts=1999/9/14 14:46 63k 1999/09/14 C:\cygwin\bin\cygitk30.dll - os=4.0 img=1.0 sys=4.0 "cygitk30.dll" v0.0 ts=1999/9/14 14:47 474k 1999/09/14 C:\cygwin\bin\cygtcl80.dll - os=4.0 img=1.0 sys=4.0 "cygtcl80.dll" v0.0 ts=1999/9/14 14:31 19k 1999/09/14 C:\cygwin\bin\cygtclpip80.dll - os=4.0 img=1.0 sys=4.0 24k 1999/09/14 C:\cygwin\bin\cygtclreg80.dll - os=4.0 img=1.0 sys=4.0 "cygtclreg80.dll" v0.0 ts=1999/9/14 14:31 768k 1999/09/14 C:\cygwin\bin\cygtk80.dll - os=4.0 img=1.0 sys=4.0 "cygtk80.dll" v0.0 ts=1999/9/14 14:36 569k 2000/05/15 C:\cygwin\bin\cygwin1.dll - os=4.0 img=1.0 sys=4.0 "cygwin1.dll" v0.0 ts=2000/5/15 15:48 Use -h to see help about each section -- Want to unsubscribe from this list?
