So I just uninstalled cygwin from the Start menu, then updated setup.exe to the latest and ran it again. I asked for an internet installation, and when it prompted for erasing / replacing the first .tar.gz file, replied 'N' (which stands for Never I guess). So it skipped some files and downloaded new ones. Then the install went fine. I was in a hurry and since my connection was not that good I didn't want to download the whole stuff again. Anyway I did it again from scratch after removing everything and it's ok now, I had this feeling setup was not supposed to work this way. Anyway, my problem is with ssh .. I have more information: I'm using NT4 SP4, if I run a "command" shell and type ssh I get: C:\>ssh ssh: SSH: no address associated with hostname. But if I run a "cmd" shell it works fine. On a Win98 box there's only "command", and I think cvs or wincvs are spawning ssh through a "command" shell. So it doesn't work. Sergey Okhapkin (ssh-1.2.27 guy) gave me some insight about what may be happening: >It seems to me I know what happens... When cygwin program is started by >non-cygwin program, cygwin.dll uppercases all environment variables... So .. the blocking problem I had with ssh is also in openssh .. for now I'm stuck with an old non-cygwin port of 1.2.14 ..
