Linux is good for cross-compiling too.  We do regular builds on Linux
and Solaris.  It is certainly faster and more stable than building
sources under Cygwin.

I was in a situation like yours 2 years ago.  Our company was all
Windows NT (and a few stray Macs).  I started the takeover by
introducing CVS for source control and release management.  Later we
started source builds on Linux too.  Eventually our managers figured out
that we could avoid all this Cygwin/NT hassle by just installing Linux
on the workstations.  We let them think it was their idea ;)
