Please be explicit as to whether you're using Cygwin or not. Also, what exactly do you mean by "extra GNU features"? Cygwin doesn't use GNU C library, so the issue is moot as far as library features go. > 2/ > Also I tried to use regexps to no avail (in C) following some win help for > libc > (reference manual for version 1.07 Beta of the GNU C Library) but I was not > able > to find (that was using egcs 1.1 mingw32). What regexp? GNU C library and Mingw32 are not related in any way, so unless you're talking about ANSI/ISO features, you can't expect it to match up. > 3/ > Also I was wondering why the cygnus dist. shows 586 and the mingw32 > shows 386. > Is the mingw32 dist less optimised for 586s ? > How should I go about making one for a 686 (PPro) ? It's just a convention, without any consequence; just ignore it. If you want to produce code for 686, then see the GCC manual on what switches you need to provide (specifically look at the -mcpu and -march options).
