I wish to connect to one of my freeBSD servers via ssh from a NT environment so I installed B20 onto my NT server/SP4 box. I ran mkpasswd and mkgroup to create the relevant /etc/ files. I then downloaded and extracted ssh-1.2.26-cygwinb20.tar.bz2 from Sergey Okhapkin excellent site. Setting CYGWIN to " tty" and I tried to run ssh-agent. Hi,
    I was hoping that someone could cast some = light on my=20 ssh misery.

    I wish to connect to one of my freeBSD = servers via ssh=20 from a NT environment so I installed B20 onto my NT server/SP4=20 box.

    I ran mkpasswd and mkgroup to = create the=20 relevant /etc/ files.

    I then downloaded and extracted = ssh-1.2.26-cygwinb20.tar.bz2 from Sergey=20 Okhapkin excellent site.

    Setting CYGWIN to "  tty" and = I tried=20 to run ssh-agent. This fails with

Bad=20 modes or owner for directory '/tmp/ssh-pik'
echo Agent creation = failed, no=20 agent started

    but ls -l /tmp gives

total=20 0
drwxrwxrwx   1 Administrators =20 None           &nb= sp;     =20 0 Nov  9 05:24 ssh-pik

or=20 after I chown it:-

total=20 0
drwxrwxrwa   1=20 pik           &nbs= p;=20 None           &nb= sp;     =20 0 Nov  9 05:24 ssh-pik

O.K. I=20 say I can do it by hand so I just run ssh1 -v sol and I=20 get

SSH=20 Version 1.2.26 [i586-pc-cygwin32], protocol version 1.5.
Standard=20 version.  Does not use RSAREF.

Enter passphrase for RSA key 'pik':

    If I now enter the passphrase nothing = happens, the=20 window no longer responds to typing.
I can=20 recover my prompt with a ctl-brk.

    Please could someone point out the foolish = mistake=20 that I have injected into this procedure.
