From: karipid AT mae DOT cornell DOT edu (Daniel Karipides) Subject: phantom file "aux" under bash b19 4 Apr 1998 20:23:56 -0800 Message-ID: <199804031907.OAA00738.cygnus.gnu-win32@scotch.mae.cornell.edu> To: gnu-win32 AT cygnus DOT com I couldn't find any reference to this in the FAQ: Under bash, b19, there is a phantom file "aux" that does not exist, but affects things such as "ls" and "tar". As an example: bash-2.01$ ls -l aux crw-r--r-- 0 0 everyone 0, 0 Dec 31 1969 aux This works in any directory. One cannot name other files "aux". The command: touch aux hangs the shell. I hope this information is useful. -Dan - For help on using this list (especially unsubscribing), send a message to "gnu-win32-request AT cygnus DOT com" with one line of text: "help".
