The JDE provides menu access to a Java compiler, debugger, and API doc. The Emacs/JDE combination adds features typically missing from command-line tools, including: syntax coloring auto indentation compile error to source links source-level debugging source code browsing The JDE supports both Emacs (Unix and Windows versions) and XEmacs. It is freely available under the GNU public license. The new release includes the following changes: - JDE now supports use of the Emacs Customization feature to set JDE configuration variables. - The JDE menu now has items for opening customization buffers for the major groups of JDE variables. - You can now display the JDE User's Guide from the JDE menu. - The new jde-save-project command saves the current state of all the JDE customization variables in the project file for the current source buffer. - jde-set-global-classpath replaces the jde-set-classpath command. - Bug fixes in the jtags and jtags.csh result have eliminated false tagging.
