This is an extremely annoying behaviour. I understand that winsock is initialized in this new version when you start any app in the shell. Is it trying to get the name from a name server or something (a similar problem with older version of GNU NTEmacs)?? How do I disable it? If it couldn't be done, I just have to go back to 17.1. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Allen - For help on using this list (especially unsubscribing), send a message to "gnu-win32-request AT cygnus DOT com" with one line of text: "help".
