It appears that it may have been referenced off list (possibly in the OP's org? 
Affiliation? Institut Pasteur? or another org?) in an unsolicited DM starting 
this thread, that was not quoted on-list because *unsolicited*: an advantage of 
posting everything on-list, so everything in the project is on the record and 
transparent (a lack which put me off some other projects!)

Naming it ls-sparse may make more obvious the distinction between the file 
utility and all the least squares and sparse matrix packages and utilities! ;^>
