Hi Jim,
please look at:

for origin of the "WARNING: Couldn't compute FAST_CWD" and recommended 
solution.

We have no idea of what package, that embeds the cygwin shared lib 
(cygwin1.dll) you are using, so you will need to ask the package
responsible to upgrade their distribution content.
