Ah thanks Larry. This makes sense but I simply do not have the time to 
create such a minimum test case. I do not need a quick fix though as the 
workaround is simply to set CPU affinity on native 32-bit Windows. 
Haven't found a way to workaround this problem under WOW64 though but 
that's an entirely different kettle of fish to begin with.
