Couldn't find anything more recent than a 2006 reference to this error in the list archives I did find that modifying and using the Mandrake /etc/DIR_COLORS file as follows:   cp /etc/DIR_COLORS ~/.DIR_COLORS   dircolors -b ~/.DIR_COLORS works just fine Thanks...jon-- Jon Seidel CMC Effective Decisions...
