Good catch.  I experience this behavior too.  I forwarded your message, and
added additional information on what behavior I would like to see instead, to
http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10986 -- I hope the developers
will see it and take action.  You can register at that website then add yourself
to the "CC list" if you like; that means you will be emailed if the bug is fixed.
