  Yes, really.  I boggled.

  Depends on the details of the particular project you're configuring, that's
about the basics of it, but some projects require specific versions of
autoconf, and you'd need to hack those checks out (and fix whatever it was
that made the project require a specific version).

  Anyways you'll get your chance to try it out on the whole /src and /gcc
repositories soon enough, Ralf's making good progress converting them.
