That's an interesting idea.

regtool list -v "/machine/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Session 
Manager/Environment"

and

regtool list -v "/user/Environment"

Thanks!  At least the germ of an idea (it'll need some work, obviously; 
putting all the settings again into .bash_profile is probably a lot 
easier :-).
