Nels,

This MAY be the same problem discussed in the thread
referring to a dlopen() bug:
http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2006-04/msg00036.html

My experience with this bug comes from a Python
program importing a dll, and this is possibly what
your problem is, too.
